An Maine woman got the shock of her life when she reached in to grab the clothes out of her washing machine.

I'm just curious how an 8-foot python could fit thru the water pipes of a washing machine. I know my intake pipes for water are less than an inch in diameter, and the drain pipe is certainly no more than 1 1/4 inches in diameter. How small a head could an 8 foot python have? I just don't believe it could be less than 2 inches in diameter, but then I know very little about snakes except that I don't want any, lol.
It's impossible for the snake to get into the tub through the drain. If the door was closed.., someone put it in there....
Maybe if the snake was in between the actual perforated wash basin the drain tub (or whatever it's called), then squeezed between the basin and the edge to get into the basin. I had a friend with an old washer that you could tilt the basin to the side and see the drain tub.
I hate it for the guy; pythons are mean as hell because they are easily spooked. However, the Boas' curious nature makes it less violent and would have been easier to handle. To me it sounds like someone didn't want to take care of that snake anymore.
Ummm...pythons do not kill prey with their teeth. They are constrictors, like boas and anacondas.
I grew up in southeast Alabama and have never liked snakes, teeth, no teeth or constrictors. Just a phobia of mine, I steer clear.

This is the dumbest story I have read. Of course a snake that size could not have come through any pipes and most modern day washers have screens at the end of the lines. And yes they are only about a 1 1/4 inch . Sounds more like someone was pulling a prank on her for the suprise effect. Does she have a teenager in the house. maybe it was rolled up in the jeans when she put them in the washer.

The explanation for how this snake got into the washer doesn't make sense. Completely apart from the totally reasonable objection having to do with the input supply pipe diameter, there is the problem of how the snake got into a closed, pressurized input line. More likely it slithered up the (open) drainage pipe or else someone isn't leveling with us about the true story.
The drainage pipe(hose) for my washer is no more than 1 1/4 inch in diameter. I don't see how the snake could have possibly travelled through either the intake or the drainage for the washer. This story is too full of holes, don't you think?
It is physically impossible for a snake of that size to enter any washer through the plumbing. More likely, the snake sensed warmth, darkness and dampness and entered the machine after the cycle. It would not matter if the lid was open or not; the snake is perfectly capable of lifting it to enter.
They capture their prey by biting, then they constrict to kill. They can have 100 teeth.
Get back Jack!!! Talk about the shock of your life!!! Man, it gives me the shivers just thinking about it!!
Without seeing the tail and a close-up, I would have to agree with Mary - it looks more like a boa.

The snake should never have been put in a plastic bag,.... animal rescue??!
That's what I was wondering, Mark! Who would put it in a plastic bag and tie it shut?!? I think a pillowcase is the standard for animal rescues like this. Geeze, doesn't anyone else watch Animal Planet??
Through the lid! Now that does make sense. Unfortunately, I can picture a big snake doing that, especially since top-loaders have that groved lid. Thank God I have a front loader that is locked, and I live where we only have garter snakes.

The story is made up. its bs, the snake does not fit in the pipes, if it did the pipes would get cloged and the snake would drown any way.
Does anyone realize the snake is also a victim in this story?
How is the snake a victim?
He was in a washer then was taken to a pet store, likely where his life started.
He'd be a victim if the lady killed him.

Finally, someone got it right. The snake is the victim here. You don't get a pet and, once it gets bigger than you anticipated, let it loose in the wild to fend for itself. That's cruel.
Ask the public for tips. Somebody out there must know of a person that had a GIGANTIC snake that magically disappeared. That pet owner might need to look at the inside of a jail cell for awhile, get a whopping fine and be sentenced to work at an animal shelter for a time.
So, are pythons or boa's indigenous to Maine now? Had to be an unwanted pet, and seeing that snakes as pets are a little unusual, somebody out there in Maine must know somebody that recently lost an 8 foot long pet snake. Let's find out who that is and turn 'em over to the SPCA.

I never had an 8-ft. snake in my washer, but I had a garter snake go through the wash cycle - luckily it was a load of whites so i saw it as i reached in. Yes, it was still alive! I also had a snake fall off my dryer when i opened it on 2 different occasions. The washer and dryer are no longer in our basement. someone call the prophet GORE, sounds like a culprit of global warming to me.

The snake may have just escaped (they're experts) but someone knows!
I can't see any disadvantages of living in the woods, on a mountain (with nature)... beautiful! We have been so detached from our heritage. Wildlife goes with it; and we CAN co-exist!
